A Sunny Day at Burgas Sand Festival
This week I took a trip to see the sand sculptures. It was really nice to get out and do something different, plus it always serves as a great opportunity to take some photos.
I love visiting creative outdoor exhibits during the summer months and one of my favourites is the Sand Festival. It’s a fun, chilled event that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I’m sure you will be able to guess which fantasy characters these sand sculptures intend to portray. This year the sculptures at the Sand Festival included Alice in Wonderland, King Kong, The Adams Family, Rapunzel, The Jungle Book, Transformers, and many more. THE SAND FESTIVAL
This is the fourth time I’ve been to the sand sculpture exhibit in Burgas, Bulgaria. Every year the Sand Festival is held in the Sea Garden during the summer months. Over the years, I’ve seen many different sand sculptures, created by artists from different European countries. Typically, the focus is on Disney characters or fantasy figures. The work that goes into making these sand sculptures is really impressive! Quite often, when independent artists take it upon themselves to recreate iconic characters, you can see the resemblance but they’re by no means uncanny. I’m always able to guess what each sculpture is supposed to be and if you’re unsure, the names of each character and the film are on plaques next to each sculpture. Each of the sand sculptures stand at about 3 metres high and there are usually between 10-20 sculptures showcased at the festival. Entry costs just £1.60 per person and offers your an hour of entertainment. It’s well worth a visit! You can find out more information on trips to Burgas here
